Where can I buy fireworks? Explore the options
Where can I buy fireworks, and which shop has what I need? Perhaps you are looking for sparklers for a celebration, a retailer near home or a fireworks shop across the border. The options differ by country and fireworks category. Start by deciding what you want and where you intend to use it.
Use the Pyro’s United shop finder to search for fireworks retailers by town, country and region. This helps you find a shop and prepare for your visit.
Where can you buy fireworks in the Netherlands?
In the Netherlands, only category F1 fireworks are permitted for consumers. Examples include sparklers, throw-down snaps and certain small fountains. Always check the category on the packaging: a product’s name or appearance alone is not enough. The minimum age for buying F1 fireworks in the Netherlands is 12. Check the latest information from the Dutch government.
Looking for a shop that sells these items? Select the Netherlands and category F1 in our shop finder. Then search for your town or select a distance. Before leaving, check with the shop that your chosen product is in stock and confirm its opening hours.
Buying fireworks in Belgium or Germany
There are also fireworks shops across the Dutch border. You may know Baarle-Hertog for its fireworks retailers, or you may be looking for a shop in Germany close to your route.
A shop abroad may stock a different range from a Dutch retailer. However, a product that can legally be sold abroad cannot automatically be brought into the Netherlands. Different conditions may apply to purchasing, transporting, possessing and setting off fireworks. Dutch rules apply when you bring fireworks into the Netherlands. The Dutch government explicitly warns against importing prohibited fireworks.
Check the rules for your situation beforehand. A shop listing or a product appearing in a foreign online store does not, in itself, give you permission to buy it or take it across the border.
How do you find a fireworks shop nearby?
You do not need to look up every shop individually. The shop finder lets you search by name, town or address and filter by country, region and category. Use the distance filter to narrow your search area.
This is useful when travelling, too. Search for the place where you are staying or look for shops along your planned route. Then confirm the details with the shop itself, particularly if you are making a special trip for one product.
Can you order fireworks online?
Some retailers offer online ordering or reservations. The process varies by shop and product. Read the collection conditions before ordering: an online order does not automatically mean the fireworks can be delivered to your home.
Pay particular attention to:
- The collection address: will you collect your order from the shop or another location?
- The collection date: when will your order be ready?
- The sales conditions: what minimum age and any documents are required?
- Availability: has the product actually been reserved for you?
If anything is unclear, contact the retailer before paying.
What should you check before driving to the shop?
A little preparation can save you a wasted trip. Check opening hours, the product range and the conditions on the shop’s website. Opening hours may change around public holidays, and popular items may sell out.
Ask specifically about the product you want. “Do you have F1 fountains in stock?” usually gives you a more useful answer than simply asking whether the shop sells fireworks.
