F3 fireworks: category, retailers and requirements

Under the European classification, F3 fireworks are intended for outdoor use in large open areas and present a medium hazard. The category describes the product but does not by itself determine who may buy or use it.

What does F3 mean?

The European system distinguishes several fireworks categories. The EU directive specifies a minimum age of 18 for F3. Countries may impose stricter restrictions.

Meeting that age threshold does not therefore automatically allow you to buy or possess F3 fireworks.

Rules differ between countries

Before buying, check the conditions in both the country of sale and the destination country. Consider purchase, transport, storage, possession and use.

F3 fireworks are prohibited for Dutch consumers. An overseas purchase or CE marking does not change that restriction.

Retailers and required documents
